Source analytics shows which of your sources the answers were built from, and which documents in each, for the last 7, 30 or 90 days. Use it to see what your content is doing: which sources carry the answers, and which are connected but never cited.

The figures

Below the figures, Cited sources has one row per source, most cited first, with the number of answers that cited it (Cited answers) and that number as a share of the answered questions (Share of answers). Open a source to see the same two figures for each of its documents, with a link to the document where it has one.

Read the report correctly

  • The shares do not add up to 100%. An answer that cites two sources counts for both.
  • Deleted content is still counted. An answer that was given cited what it cited. Documents and sources that no longer exist are listed last, under Sources or documents that no longer exist.
  • Long lists are cut, and say so. A source lists its 50 most cited documents and states how many were cited in all.
  • A missing source was cited by no answer in the window. It may be out of date, scoped too narrowly, or simply not what people ask about.
Filter to one assistant to see what that assistant answers from.

Export

Select Export CSV to download the report with one row per source and document. The file is built in your browser from what the screen lists, so a source cut to its 50 most cited documents exports those 50.

What the report contains

Sources and documents only. It never contains a question, an answer or who asked.

Who can read it

Owners, Administrators and Editors.

With the API

Get source analytics returns the same report and also takes an exact date range; the console offers 7, 30 and 90 days.

Next steps

Use this report with Coverage gaps: that one shows what your content is missing, and this one shows what your content is doing. A per-source trend over time is planned; see Product status.
